Mrs. Mary "Ernestine" Matheney Flowers, age 89, of New Johnsonville, TN, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, in the Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly, TN. Mrs. Flowers was born March 20, 1926, in Union City, TN, to Ernest and Gertrude Russell Matheney. She was married to Richard "Mac" Flowers of New Johnsonville, TN. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Flowers was a member of the Trace Creek Baptist Church in New Johnsonville, TN, Fidelis Sunday School Class, and Victory Generations at the church. She was a member for 57 years of the Hustburg Chapter 153 Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Ernestine was lovingly known as the "Hat Lady" of the Tennessee T's. Visitation with the family will be at Trace Creek Baptist Church, 1320 Broadway Avenue, New Johnsonville, TN, on Saturday, May 16, 2015, from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015, visitation will be at Trace Creek Baptist Church from 12 noon until funeral service time at 2 p.m. Rev. Mark Warren will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in New Johnsonville, TN. Active pallbearers will be Richie Flowers, Jr., Brian Fly, Chris Flowers, Rusty Fly, Braeden Pickard, Blake Pickard, Broede Pickard, and Harrison Fly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Trace Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1320 Broadway Avenue, New Johnsonville, TN 37134.
