Lula Mae "Dude" Hedge Oliphant

Mrs. Lula Mae "Dude" Hedge Oliphant, age 86, of McEwen, TN, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at her home, with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Oliphant was born January 15, 1929, in McEwen, TN, to Walter Lee and Edna Earl Tittle Hedge. She was married to Ernest Dee Oliphant. She was a homemaker and had lived in McEwen all of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed sewing and watching television. She never met a stranger and invited every visitor into her home and tried to feed each one who stopped by. She enjoyed her pet dogs, flowers, and watching the birds and wildlife from her porch. "Granny Dude" will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 2 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen. Bro. Joe James of Smyrna, TN, and Jake Beard of Dickson, TN, will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Bethpage Cemetery in McEwen, TN. Active pallbearers will be David Seller, Scott Seller, Josh Oliphant, Jake Beard, Chris Beard, IV, and Bobby Joe Beard.
