Nancy Ann Ribar

     Nancy Ann Ribar, age 61, died Friday, December 2, 2016, shortly after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She died at home in Gorman at her beloved Four Ponds Farm, as was her wish.      Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, December 17, 2016, from 11 a.m. until Memorial Mass time at 12 Noon, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 175 St. Patrick Street, McEwen, TN. Rev. Michael Baltrus will be officiating. Placement of cremated remains will be at a private ceremony at a later date.     Nancy was born November 17, 1955 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was a 1974 Graduate of Katharine Gibbs College in Boston, Massachusetts, then re-locating to Jupiter/Tequesta, Florida where she worked briefly in Real Estate Development. In 1975 she joined the Tequesta Insurance Agency, serving as Managing Partner from 1980 until her retirement in 1990. After retirement she studied American Sign Language at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., and volunteered with a deaf services agency in Florida, providing free TDD (Telephone Relay Services) to deaf clients. She also volunteered at a local food pantry.     Nancy is survived by her husband of 25 years, Martin Paul (Marty) Ribar. Since moving to Gorman in 1991, Nancy has worked with Marty in their cow/calf beef cattle operation. Her hobbies included music, travelling, volunteering with the Humphreys County Recycling Committee, the Humphreys County Library, the Waverly Women's Club, and the Town & Country FCE Club. She loved cooking with a special passion for baking, known by many in the community by the nickname "Cookie Girl".     She was preceded in death by her parents Dwayne & Patricia Wood. Other survivors include Sister (and end-of-life caregiver) Linda (Gregory) Bedson of Scottsdale, Arizona; Brother Nelson (Suzanne) Wood of Caledonia, Michigan; Brother-in-law Melvin Kehl of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; Sister-in-law Delores (Michael) Burgess of Catalina Island, California; Aunt Joan Sayles of Borrego Springs, California; Cousin Roger (Elizabeth) Sayles of Mohave Valley, California; 5 nieces, 7 nephews, 8 great nieces, 7 great nephews, 2 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew.     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, c/o St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 175 St. Patrick Street, McEwen, TN 37101, or any other hunger charity of your choice.LUFF-BOWEN FUNERAL HOMERICHLAWN CREMATORYRita G.
