Mr. Hershel Leon "Bob" Sanders, age 88, of McEwen, TN, passed away Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, at residence, in McEwen, TN. Mr. Sanders was born December 25, 1928, in McEwen, TN, to Neal and Dorothy Sanders. Bob spent his youth between Humphreys and Hickman counties of Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then he became a supervisor at Chevy Gear and Axle and he also joined the Freemasons.Bob enjoyed his time with his extended family where they hung out, played music, and had a lot of family picnics. Along with his brother he use to build and race cars in various places between Michigan and Canada.In 1970, Bob returned home to the family farm, although he worked in town as a mechanic. He also raised beef cattle. During his retirement years he loved to fish. He often said, "I would rather be on the river than anywhere else in the world."He was preceded in death by his father Neal, his mother Dorothy, his son Robert, his granddaughter Mandi, and a brother John all from Tennessee, as well as a brother Doris from Michigan.He is survived by a daughter, Sharon of Michigan, grandsons Robert of Washington DC, and Joshua of Michigan. A granddaughter Amber of Montana, and two grandsons Jackson Haralson and Nathan Bowen of Tennessee.Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 21, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m., and visitation Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until funeral service time at 11:00 a.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen. Brother Henry Kittrell will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Sanders Cemetery in McEwen. LUFF-BOWEN FUNERAL HOMERita G.
