Mr. John Edward Smith, age 78, of Waverly, TN passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. Mr. John Smith was born July 31, 1938, in Waverly, TN, to Ray Lester and Sarah Louise Hooper Smith. He was married to Rebecca Ann Culp Smith. He was a member of Waverly Church of Christ. Mr. Smith was an Independent Insurance Agent and retired Owner of John E. Smith Insurance Agency in downtown Waverly. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from 4-9 p.m., and Wednesday, May 10, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. Bro. Jeff Keele will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Wyly Cemetery in Waverly. Donations are requested to be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN. 37203.
