She loved children and lived for hers. Following graduation, she taught nursery school for two years at the old Bell House School on East Main off Gay Street in downtown Knoxville. She taught the five-year-old Bible class and kept the nursery for many years at Laurel Church of Christ.Melba was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ethel Jane and Herman Otis Lampley of White Bluff. Officiated by Bro. Jeff Keele.Melba spent her life in the service of her family. She loved to attend football games, swim meets, dance recitals, hockey games, school shows and the UT Pike house to help clean up after events. She was anxious to hear and share about her children and grandchildren wherever they were around the country and at some points around the globe. She was determined to live with dignity and choose to die the same way. We have consciously omitted the year of her birth or her age because she spent her entire life not answering that question. Frankly she would say "none of your business". Therefore, we will continue to honor her request
