Arthur Eugene "Freddie" Mathis

Arthur Eugene "Freddie" Mathis age 83 of McEwen, TN passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. He was born in McEwen, TN on January 24, 1940, to the late William Lyon Mathis and Syrl Gilbert Mathis. Freddie proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years from 1962-1965. While in the Navy he was assigned to the USS Bold and USS Jacana. Freddie and his brother Carl were the owners of Mathis Lawn Care. In his free time, he enjoyed watching football, especially the McEwen Warriors and Tennessee Vols. He also loved his pet cat Tom. Freddie was a Christian and a member of the Water Valley United Methodist Church. Freddie will be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, pawpaw and friend. 
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 40 years Bonnie Mathis of McEwen, TN; brother Carl Mathis

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., at the Luff­Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Funeral services for Mr. Mathis will be at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mark Beecham officiating the service. Interment will follow at the Meadowlawn Cemetery in McEwen.
