Catherine Lorene Gentry

Catherine Lorene Kost Gentry, age 95 of McEwen, TN passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN. Catherine was born in Nashville, TN on June 9, 1928 to the late Charles F. Kost and Ada Martha Mary Vester Kost. Catherine was a lifelong devout Catholic. She was a dedicated member of Cathedral Catholic Church for many years prior to moving to McEwen, TN when her health longer permitted. During her residency in McEwen, she resided with her loving niece, Rita Craft. Catherine attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McEwen. She enjoyed crocheting and listening to Charlie Pride. Catherine also was a lover of all things chocolate. Catherine will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, kind, and spunky individual.

Catherine is survived by her sister, Ada Marie of the Mercy Order; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews; specifically those who cared for her during her time here in McEwen, TN, niece, Rita Craft; great niece, Tammy Lewis (Calvin) and great-great niece, Cali Lewis, all of McEwen, TN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ada Kost; husband, William R. Gentry; son, John Vincent Gentry; grandson, Kain Gentry; brother, Joseph Franklin Kost; sisters, Florence Midgett (Bill), Frances Biggs (Joe), Doris Bennett Williams, Lois Fox (Marvin), Vivian Tucker (Joe) and Mary Helen Meadows (Donald).

A visitation for Ms. Catherine will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Luff-Bowen McEwen Chapel beginning at 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and also on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church beginning at 12:00 P.M. Father Kevin Dowling will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Butch McBride, Remi McBride, Lee Williams, Noah Byrum, Tyler Vinci and Calvin Lewis. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
