Mr. Charles R. Brake, age 80, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mr. Brake was born in Humphreys County, Tennessee and was a son of the late David Pruitt and Myrtle Elaine Chilcutt Brake. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Patty Jo Welch. Mr. Brake was a Veteran and served his Country in the United States Air Force. He retired after 32 years of service from the DuPont Corporation, working both in the New Johnsonville and Old Hickory plants as an electrician. Mr. Brake was a member of Caney Springs Baptist Church and served for 49 years as an ordained deacon. He loved his church family and all his DuPont friends. Mr. Brake also loved fishing and deer hunting with his son-in-law, Barry, and his dear church friend, the late Hoyte Haskins. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Mr. Brake is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah Brake, Chapel Hill, TN; children, Cynthia (Barry) Mangrum, Pegram, TN, Sabrina (Michael) Wells, Cookeville, TN, Monica (Tracy) Miller, Brentwood, TN, Marcella (James) Rosecrans, Chapel Hill, TN; his grandchildren, Olivia Rosecrans, Dalton Rosecrans, Henry Miller; sisters, Loretta DeLozier, Pleasant Shade, TN, Rebecca Brock, Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Gary (Glenda) Brake, Burns, TN. Family members will receive friends on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. Visitation with the family will also be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home, McEwen, TN. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 p.m. from the chapel of Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen with Rev. Donnie Hutcheson officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery in McEwen. In light of the present health crisis, family members request that everyone attending visitation or funeral services to please wear a mask. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial donations in memory of Charles R. Brake, made be made to Caney Springs Baptist Church, c/o Brenda Vea, 1444 Hwy. 99, Chapel Hill, TN 37034.
