Charles William Stephens

Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Walking Horse Meadows in Clarksville, TN. He was
born on March 31, 1936, in Sewanee, TN to the late Andrew & Dollie Stephens.
Charles enlisted in the Navy on Sept 9, 1954, where he served 4 years active duty and
4 years Inactive Reserves. In 1960 he married Ruthie “Fay” Walker. Charles worked as
a Chemical Engineer at Dupont in New Johnsonville, retiring after 30 years. He enjoyed
farming, boating, and listening to talk radio. Charles loved his wife dearly as he did his
children, but nothing made him smile more than his beautiful grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Chuck Stephens, Jr. (Kelly Jo) of Dickson,
TN and Deanna Stephens of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Austin Stephens, Tresdon
Stephens (Katy) and Addie Stephens; sister, Terri (Richard) Henley of Decherd, TN.
Survived by brother-in-law Jimmy Foster and sister-in-law Perline Stephens. Sister-in-
law Camille Wilson.
Along with his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruthie
"Fay" Stephens; sisters, Christine Talbert (David), Esther Goodman (Robert) & Dixie
Foster; brother, Kim Stephens. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Family Memorial will be held at a later day.
