Donald "Don" Richard Gordon, Sr.

Donald Richard Gordon, Sr., age 78, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Humphreys County, TN, on July 25, 1944 to the late Arzie and Johnny Gordon. Don played football #31 for the Waverly Tigers. He was a graduate of Waverly High School Class of 1963. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. His MOS was in the Criminal Investigation Division. Don was an Air Police Investigator with top secret clearance, assigned to the Presidential Security for President Johnson. After the military, Don became the owner and operator for 15 years of Gordon's Roofing and Sheet Metal INC. Don retired in 2014 from Heath Consultant Incorporated as a Field Services Manager South East Division. Don’s most humbling achievement was in his service of the Lord as an Elder at the Wildwood Valley Church of Christ. He also enjoyed working with wood in his wood shop. In all of Don’s life, his most precious moments were spent with his wife and family.

Left to cherish his memory, is his devoted wife of 59 years, Patricia Gordon of Waverly, TN; daughter, Delisa Gordon of Waverly, TN; son, Donald “Rick” Richard Gordon, Jr. (Janette) of Waverly, TN; grandchildren, Donald “Rick” Richard Gordon III, (Laura), Corey Field (Emily), Alexandria “Alex” Stuart (Clifton), Austin Gordon and Dylan Gordon-Craven; great grandchildren, Donald “Ryker” Richard Gordon IV, Patrick Field, Amelia Field and Dax Gordon; and special sisters-in-law, Judy Sherrod (Michael) and Deanna Overton (Darryl).

Along with his parents, Don is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Wade Gordon; and siblings Joel E. Gordon, Gary Lane Gordon and Carolyn Gordon.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 12:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, at Wildwood Valley Church Of Christ in Waverly, TN. Bro. Jeremy McFarlin and Elder Ronnie Hughes will officiate the service. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
