Dorris Evonne Brown

Dorris “Evonne” Brown, age 77 of Waverly, TN passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her 2 daughters on Monday, December 12, 2022. Evonne was born on December 1, 1945 in Denver, TN to the late C.A. “Neal” and Enda Louise Winters. Evonne was her family's rock. She was the strongest woman they knew and made sure all of them were taken care of. Evonne had a servant’s heart. Evonne was known as "mama" to many. She volunteered for the United Way and was on the Board of Directors for Helping Hands. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, shopping and buying beautiful clothes, making flower arrangements and crafts. Evonne loved her plants and loved to cook. Evonne was a member at Halls Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Evonne will be missed dearly.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jeffrey “Jeff” Brown of Etowah, TN and Joel David Brown of Waverly, TN; daughters, Deana Rae Hedge (Phillip) of Waverly, TN and Donna Lee Story (Prentice) of Waverly, TN; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Evonne is preceded in death by her husband, Fonnie Edward Brown, Jr., Brothers, Neal Winters, Jr., Mac Winters, Jerry Lee Winters, Paul Dean Winters, and Roger Dale Winters, Sister, Frankie Winters Barker, and her grandson Jason Lee Brown.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 10:00 A.M until the hour of service at 12:00 P.M. at Luff-Bowen in Waverly. Officiating will be Reverend Tom Jehnzen. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Waverly. Pallbearers will be Sean Brown, Jeremy Brown, Joel David French, Matthew Story, Timothy Story and Prentice Story. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff and Joel Brown.
