Herman Swanson Ring

July 25, 1939 — December 8, 2020

Mr. Herman Swanson Ring, "Mann", age 81 of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home. He was born July 25,1939 in Spring Hill, Tennessee to the late Kenneth and Louise Warren Ring. He was married to the late Rachel Plant Ring for 33 years and they resided in Plant Community. Mann was a retired Tennessee Walking Horse trainer and also a retired Asbestos Worker from Local #86 in Nashville, TN. He was an honorary member of the Masonic Lodge #124 in Spring Hill, TN and also a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. He could be seen in a wagon with friends behind a team of mules heading to Columbia, TN for their annual Mule Day Festival. He loved to "boot scoot" because he sure could dance! He really cut a rug at his 80th birthday party.

He is survived by his five children, Jeff (Sharon) Ring, Angela (Chris) DeCarlo, Melanie (Freddy) Wilson, Allison (Bucky) Forrester, and Monty Ring
Eleven grandchildren, Neely, Erin, Emery, Ellen, Rachel, Brady, Lucas, Brock, Brennan, Kayla, and Justin
Three great grandchildren, Wyatt, Luke, McKaleigh.

His is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Louise Ring, his wife, Rachel Plant Ring, and brother, W.T. "Travis" Ring.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital in memory of Mann.

The family requested no visitation due to COVID but will hold a graveside service for family and friends on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00am at Box-Plant Cemetery in New Johnsonville, Tennessee.
