Mrs. Irma Jean Forrest, age 89 of Waverly, TN, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Humphreys County Nursing Home. Irma was born in Waverly, TN to the late Wolsey Orbra and Minnie Odean Summers Wall on January 7, 1934. She was married to the late Herman Lashlee Forrest. Irma was a member of the Halls Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she played the piano for many years. She was a retired Food Service Manager at Waverly Central High School. Irma was a member of the Robert E. Lee Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Grand Organist of Tennessee. She loved to travel. She also loved her animals and tending to her flowers. Irma's favorite pastime was playing the piano and singing.
Left to cherish her memory are her 3 daughters, Sarah Hendry (Charles) of Erin, TN, Monica Forrest Smith of Waverly, TN, and Sherry Buchanan (Tim) of Waverly, TN; sister Ila Jackson of Farmington, MI; daughter-in-law Gridska Forrest of Milton, FL; 8 grandchildren, Sean Ingram (Lee Ann), Gridska Flynn (Grant), Brandon Forrest (Brandy), Vanessa Miller (Adam), Camille McClean (Mike), Heidi Forrest, Jonathan Forrest (Jessica), and Brittany Selph (Justin); and 18 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Irma is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lashlee Forrest; son, Randall Forrest; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Luff-Bowen in Waverly beginning at 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M and also on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Tom Jehnzen officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Waverly, TN.
