Mr. James Rudolph "Sammy" Tate of McEwen, TN, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at his home. Mr. Tate was born in Perry County, TN, to Louis Chesley and Lena Louise Scaggs Tate. He was married to Hattie Dimple Palk Ligon Tate. He was a  Corporal in the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. Sammy was a member of McEwen Church of Christ and McEwen Senior Citizens Center. He loved traveling in his motor home and camping. fishing, and he was an avid cook. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with the Pickin' and Grinnin' Group and being a song leader. His handle on the CB radio was "Roho." Sammy was a retired Insurance Agent and Funeral Assistant for Luff-Bowen Funeral Home and worked many years helping families. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. Visitation with the family will be Friday, June 8, 2018, from 5-9 p.m., and Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen. Bro. Jim Suddeath, Bro. Hoby Grace, Bro. Jeremy McFarlin, and Bro. Joe James will be officiating the service. Military funeral honors will be held at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen prior to the procession to the cemetery.
