Janice Elinor Hatley, age 81 of McEwen, TN passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN. Janice was born on November 6, 1941, in Canton, OH to the late Dominic William and Mary Alice Eremita. Janice married the love of her life, Willard Earl Hatley on April 4, 1964, and together they built a beautiful life with 8 children, 25 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Janice obtained her teaching degree at Immaculate Heart College in California and she taught until September 1966. After teaching, she dedicated herself to caring for her husband and children. When their youngest son started school, Janice returned to college where she earned an accounting degree from Tennessee State University. She then worked for the state of TN in the Department of Children Services as an accountant for 20 years. In 1975, Janice became a member of St. Patrick’s Church in McEwen, TN. Her strong faith was evident to all who knew her. She was a beautiful example of what a faithful mother looks like. She exemplified unconditional love and was always her children’s biggest fan!
Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her husband, Willard Earl Hatley of McEwen, TN; children, William Hatley (Heather) of Fairview, TN, Dottie Guidry (Paul) of St. Augustine, FL, Carol Cunningham (Mike) of Clarksville, TN, John Hatley of McEwen, TN, Jay Hatley (Cori) of McEwen, TN, Thomas Hatley (Tere Hodges) of Fairview, TN, Eric Hatley (Shawna) of White Bluff, TN and Mark Hatley (Crystal) of Burns, TN; grandchildren, Chelsey Morris (Chase), Lyndsey Hatley, Aidan Hatley, Ashley Peeler, Matthew Peeler (Casey), Faith Peeler, Rachel Brooks (Chance), Jared Guidry, Luke Cunningham, Audrey Cunningham, Claire Cunningham, Lauren Cunningham, Jonathan Hatley, April Hatley, Jamie Lagan (Austin), Brittany Hatley, Elizabeth Hatley, Emilee Hatley, T.J. Hatley, Eddy Hatley, Tarynn Hatley, Deacon Hatley, Sophia Hatley, Brooklyn Hatley and Owen Hatley; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Morris, Colton Morris, Conrad Peeler, Hazel Brooks, Dorothy Lou Lagan, and Amelia Denise Lagan, and 3 nephews; Ricky, Jason and Joel Krueger.
Along with her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Krueger, and grandchild, Shawn Cunningham.
Visitation for Janice Hatley will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen, TN. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Father John Sims Baker officiating. Interment to take place at St. Patrick Cemetery in McEwen, TN, following the Mass. A graveside Rosary will be held following burial. A reception will be held in the gymnasium after the Mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make donations to St. Patrick School, http://www.sps-tn.org/ in memory of Janice Hatley.
