Jeffrey Lynn Smith

Mr. Jeffrey Lynn Smith, age 72, of McEwen, TN, passed away January 29, 2022, at TriStar Horizon Medical Center, in Dickson, TN. Jeffrey Smith was born November 30, 1949, in El Paso, TX, to William F. and Stella Marrietta Songstad Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was married to Paula Marie Vozar Smith. He was a retired Postal Clerk from the United States Postal Service and he sold Real Estate with his father. He loved fishing, camping, and was an avid birdwatcher. Jeff met Paula, his wife for 41 years, at Fullerton College in California, in the band. He was an excellent musician and he played all wind instruments. He was awarded the John Philip Sousa Award for his outstanding musical talents. Though Jeff and Paula never had children of their own, his most treasured gift was teaching children and teenagers at the church. As a Youth Director, he and Paula had many fun outings with the Church Youth Group, which they considered their children. Jeff Smith will be cremated at Richlawn Crematory, our on-site crematory, at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2pm, at Christ Community Church in McEwen, TN. Rev. Brandon Dailey will be officiating the service. Interment of cremains will be at Middle Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery in Nashville, TN, at a later date.
