Larry Randolph Grice, age 77, a beloved member of the Waverly community, passed away on July 15, 2023, at Three Rivers Hospital.
Larry was born on March 12, 1946, in his hometown of Waverly, Tennessee, to Archie Grice and Marcelle Lockhart Grice. Throughout his life, he embodied the values of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. After a successful career at Inland Container where he served as a maintenance supervisor for many years, Larry retired and devoted his time to his passions and cherishing the moments spent with his family. Larry's steadfast dedication to his family, his passion for gardening and flowers, and his enjoyment of swimming in the pool will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Larry had an unwavering love for gardening. His green thumb brought life to beautiful flowers that adorned both his home and neighborhood. Larry found solace and joy among nature's treasures. Swimming in the pool brought out the childlike innocence in Larry. He would eagerly jump into the water with enthusiasm, splashing around with undeniable glee. His infectious laughter echoed through sunny afternoons as he made lasting memories with friends and family by the poolside.
Above all else, Larry cherished his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He nurtured deep relationships with each of them and was always there to provide love and support whenever needed. Larry will be forever missed by his surviving family members and his Elks Lodge #2289 family.
To honor Larry's life, friends and family are invited to attend the visitation services, which will be held at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. The first visitation will take place on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The second visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 10:00 AM until funeral service time beginning at 12:00PM officiated by Bro. Ronnie Burgess. Interment will follow in Concord Presbyterian Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Laurie Clayborne (Daniel Bowles) of Waverly and Mary Beth Herndon (Pudge) of New Johnsonville; daughter-in-law, Cindy Grice of Waverly; three sisters, Janet Hendrick, Patricia Brown (Ronnie), and Marian Brooks, all of Waverly; and brother, Terry Grice of Waverly. Larry also leaves 10 grandchildren, Dylan Grice, Kalyn Grice; Cody Durham (Alicia), Cheyanne Clayborne, James Bowles, Sam Reed, Charlene Reed, Abagail Fulghum, Mason Staggs, and Adia Herndon; 5 great grandchildren, Aubree, Oaklee, and Paxton Durham, Canyon Lightle, and Bexley Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews.
