Larry Joe Mallard, age 76 of Waverly, TN passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born on October 18, 1946 in Waverly, TN to the late Allene and George Mallard. Larry Joe was a hard working self employed heavy equipment operator for over 50 years. He was devoted to his 3 grandsons. Larry Joe enjoyed restoring old jeeps and he always had a cigar with him. Larry Joe will be remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Chase Mallard (Jessica) of Waverly, TN; daughter Joy Mallard (Danny) of Waverly, TN; step son, Nick Tomlinson (Brooke) of Dickson, TN; grandsons, Noah Bennett (Breighanna) of New Johnsonville, Mason Mallard of Waverly, TN and Preston Mallard of Waverly, TN; brothers, G.W. Mallard (Sandra) of New Johnsonville, TN and William Mallard (Janice) of Waverly, TN, Sister in law; Betty Mallard, Waverly, TN. Larry Joe is also survived by Nieces; Debbie Mallard Brigham (Robert), Marcia Mallard Williams (Mark), Lisa Mallard Cox (Larry) & Millette Mallard Florence (Mark), Nephews; James Mallard (Janel) & William Mallard (Lorinda), and Nephew in law; Marty Corlew.
Along with his parents, Larry Joe is preceded in death by brothers, James Howard Mallard and Robert Malloy Mallard; maternal grandparents, Howard and Minnie Bell; paternal grandparents, Jim and Ester Mallard; niece, Tammy Mallard Corlew and nephew, Jerry Wayne Mallard.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Luff-Bowen Funeral in Waverly and on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 12:00 P.M. Officiating the service will be Bro. Jeremy McFarlin. Interment to follow at Parker Cemetery in Waverly, TN. Pallbearers will be James Mallard, Brady Mallard, William Wayne Mallard, Chad Moore, Noah Bennett, and Lawson Mallard.
The family of Mr. Larry Joe would like to express their gratitude to Cindy Mallard for always caring for him and taking him to his appointments, and Tennessee Quality Hospice, specifically nurses, Kelly, Camryn and Texas. They would also like to thank Dr. Dickie Jackson, and Dr. Cardin and her staff at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center.
