Mae Crowell Anderson, age 91 of Waverly, TN passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022. Mae was born in Humphreys County on August 19, 1931 to the late Robert “Bob “and Linnie Crowell. Mae was a graduate of WCHS, class of 1949. She was a breast cancer survivor. She loved her family, enjoyed sewing and baking muffins and cookies to share with her friends. Mae was member of the Glenwood Church of Christ. She was a volunteer at the Ag Center, Humane Society, the Historical Society and member of the Humphreys County Fair for over 30 years. Mae also helped with the Humphreys County history books and cemetery records. She was a board member for the Simpson Cemetery in Waverly. In 2003, she was awarded with volunteer of the year for the Soil Conservation. Later in 2012, the building was named after her, Mae Anderson Exhibit Building. She will be remembered by family as a loving mother, gran, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Milligan (Duck) of Waverly, TN and Randal Anderson of Waverly, TN; 10 grandchildren Ashley Padgett, Amanda Moore (Jason), John Anderson (Kristin), Ryan Anderson, Shelby Snyder (Justin), Luke Anderson (Jessica), Scot Anderson (Ashten), Cole Anderson (Lauren), Payton Bell (Joe) and Kade Anderson; 12 great grandchildren, Dante Padgett, Logan Moore (Chloe), Molly Moore, Axel Anderson, Maxton Snyder, Beckett Snyder, Leighla Anderson, Knox Anderson, Cooper Anderson, Brooks Anderson, Hallie Mae Anderson and baby Bell; daughter in law, Nancy Anderson Sartor and sister in law, Mary Sue Anderson Johnson (Raoul).
Along with her parents Robert and Linnie Crowell, Mae is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Robert “Bob” Allen Anderson; son, Robert Anthony “Tony” Anderson; brothers, Hugh Crowell and Robert Crowell; sisters, Pauline Daily, Helen Hemby, Mildred Brazzle and Lillibee Hemby.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. Another visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 1:00 P.M. Bro. Joe Rhodes and Bro. Dean Duke will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ms. Mae’s grandsons. Interment to follow at the Simpson Cemetery in Waverly.
