Mrs. Mary Evelyn "Nana" Mullinax, age 82, of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, passed away May 12, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born September 2, 1940 in Athens, TN to Johnnie Stanton Sliger and Ola Mae Carter Sliger. She married the late Bro. E.G. "Buddy" Mullinax, Sr. and together they had three boys, Eddie, Kenny, and Tim. Evelyn retired from Waverly Central High school after serving 31 years in the cafeteria. She was a devoted Christian who loved her church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Hurricane Mills, TN and loved her family more than life itself. Nana enjoyed her flower garden and being outdoors enjoying God's amazing beauty.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three boys, Edwin Gene "Eddie" Mullinax, Jr. and his wife Shelly of New Johnsonville; Kenneth Lynn "Kenny" Mullinax and his wife Lisa also of New Johnsonville; and Timothy Paul "Tim" Mullinax and his wife Carol of Waverly.
She also leaves one brother, Willis Sliger and two sisters, Ruby Goforth (Dee) and Grace Womack (David) all of Athens, TN;
6 grandchildren, Adam Mullinax (Brittany); Ashley Melton (Eli); Elisha Smith (Donnie); Kayla Garner (Jonathan); Josh Mullinax and Austin Mullinax;
14 great-grandchildren, Addi, Emma, Gage, Tucker, Daxon, Beckham, Cason, Flynn, Gaines, Elsie, Enslie, Blakely, Beau and Delray.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Ola Sliger, her brother, Jackie Sliger, her husband, Bro. "Buddy" Mullinax, and her precious granddaughter, Brooklyn Mullinax.
Visitation for Mrs. Evelyn will be held on Sunday, May 21,2023 at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly from 12:00 noon until funeral service time at 4:00pm. Interment will follow in Richlawn Cemetery. Her boys Eddie, Kenny, and Tim will officiate the service. The pallbearers will be Adam Mullinax, Austin Mullinax, Josh Mullinax, Eli Melton, Jonathan Garner, and Wayne Woods. Donnie Smith will be Honorary Pallbearer.
