Phyllis Irene Harris Smith, 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. She was born on August 15, 1954 in Port Hueneme, California. Phyllis graduated from Frayser High School class of 1972. She was a student at Memphis State and a member of the Memphis State Pep Band. She was a talented musician who loved traveling with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren, and following University of Memphis Basketball. Phyllis was a member of Ellendale United Methodist Church. Phyllis joined the Order of Eastern Star 10/1/1972 at Stonewall #280 Chapter where she was Worthy Matron in 1981. Then went to Raleigh #478, then to Summer Ave #313, then to Mizpah #62 in 2009. She was also in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls at Frayser. She is preceded in death by her parents: Charles Richard Harris, Sr. and Myrvin Gray Harris. She is survived by her husband: Eddie Smith, two daughters: Michelle (John) Talbott and Melanie Smith, brother: Charles Richard Harris, Jr., 4 grandchildren: Ava Talbott, Tyler Carter, Claire Talbott and Grace Talbott. A visitation for Phyllis will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133, followed by a funeral service from 1:45 PM to 3:00 PM. Graveside service and interment will be Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 12:00 PM, at the C. W. Smith Cemetery, 1210 N. Hurricane Creek Road, McEwen, TN. Bro. Kim Smith will be officiating the service.
