Rodney Duane Simpson

May 5, 1969 — October 11, 2024

Waverly, TN

Rodney Duane Simpson, age 55, better known to those that loved him as “HOT ROD,” was born May 5, 1969 in Waverly, Tennessee.

Thirty five years ago Rodney married the love of his life; Kerri and together they built a life and shared a love that has withstood the test of time. Rodney’s purpose in life was to care for his wife and their son, Drew. Rodney wanted to set an example for his son, that your past does not determine your future.

Rodney had a personality larger than life. To know him was to love him. He was never afraid to take chances and cherished every moment of his life to the fullest. When he dreamed he dreamed big. When he worked, he gave it his all; when he played, he played harder; and when he loved, he loved unconditionally.

Rodney became a successful business owner of Simpson Industrial Services and Performance Paint and Body; and if you ever heard Rodney talk, he gave all the credit to his wife and son, who he loved dearly.

Rodney was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors and the river. He loved boats, jeeps and motorcycles; and if he could go fast, he wanted to go faster.

Five years ago Rodney gained a daughter and granddaughter that he never knew he needed but loved completely. One year later his life was forever changed when his grandson Jett was born. He loved his “Best Buddy” more than life itself. God may have physically taken Rodney from us, but if you’ve ever met Jett Simpson you know Rodney is still with us.

The family requests that everyone continue to share their stories of Rodney so as to keep his memory alive.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 35 years, Kerri Simpson; son, Drew Simpson and wife, Sarah Simpson; grandchildren, Ryleigh Buttrey and Jett Simpson; Gage, his favorite four legged companion, who went everywhere with him; in-laws Robert and Denise Thomason; parents, Russell and Judy Simpson; and sisters, Suzette Lyle and Carla Clem.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, and also on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service at 4:00 P.M. with Roger Hatley officiating the service.
