Thottakara Paulose Mathai

Dr. Thottakara Paulose Mathai, age 89, of Waverly, TN, Passed away on June 17, 2019, at Humphreys County Nursing Home in Waverly, Tennessee. Dr. Mathai was born May 23, 1930 in Manjapara, India, to Paulose and Elizabeth Mathai.  He was a Chemistry Professor and taught at Cleveland State Community College from 1968 – 2000.  Dr. Mathai was a member of the St. Patrick Church in McEwen and St. Therese Catholic Church in Cleveland, TN.

He was also a member of the Kiwanis and Knights of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his parents Paulose and Elizabeth Mathai and his sister Vilama Thottakara. Visitation for Mr. Mathai will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with Rosary Service at 7:00. Service for Mr. Mathai will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Mike Nolan Officiating the service at 11:00 AM. The inurnment will be held at the St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church Columnbarium in Cleveland, TN.
