Walter Ray Cullum, Sr.

Walter Ray Cullum, Sr., age 86 of Waverly, TN passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at his daughter’s residence surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born in Waverly, TN on December 9, 1936 to the late Jewell Josephine and William Foster Cullum. Ray was very well-known in the Humphreys County Community. He was a member of Waverly Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  Ray worked as a mechanic at Waverly Lumber Company for 55 years. He was also a lifelong farmer and talented carpenter. Ray will be remembered as a loving husband, father, granddaddy, great granddaddy, uncle and friend to all. 

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Walter Ray "Chip" Cullum, Jr. of Franklin, TN; daughters, Amy Cullum Dampf (John) of Waverly, TN, Angela "Denye" Beard of Dickson, and Renee Buck of Hurricane Mills, TN; grandchildren, Courtney Bivens (Marcus), Alex Cullum, Caleb Cullum, Savannah Cullum, Ronnie Brown, Austin Buck and Randy Buck; great grandchildren, Brylee Bivens, Kylee Bivens and baby Bivens. Ray is also survived by his sister, Martha Sue Stafford of Cookeville, TN.

Along with his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ann Meredith Cullum; brother, Robert Foster Cullum and daughter in law, Jana Cullum.

A visitation will be held for Mr. Ray on Friday, August 4, 2023 beginning at 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly and also on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. Officiating will be Toni and Rob Woods. Interment to follow at Richlawn Cemetery.
